???? RascalHR Policy Update: Fresh, Legal, and Slightly Less Boring Than the Average Policy Email

Hello, Rascals!

Gather ‘round the virtual campfire — we’ve got some spicy new policy updates fresh out of the HR oven. And unlike most corporate policy updates, these ones won’t make your eyes glaze over or cause spontaneous desk napping.
(You’re welcome.)

Some big legal changes are rolling across British Columbia and some much-needed upgrades have landed in RascalHR, and because we love you (and also love keeping you out of court), we’ve updated a few of our core documents.

Here’s what’s new in your RascalHR toolbox:

???? Updated Extended Sick Leave Policy

Because life happens, bodies are weird, and sometimes your immune system decides to take a personal day.
We’ve refreshed the Extended Sick Leave Policy to make it clearer, friendlier, and aligned with all that legal stuff that keeps lawyers warm at night.

Use it to manage longer medical absences without turning your HR department into a panic room.

???? New Group Medical Participation Form

This form pairs with protected medical leaves like peanut butter pairs with… well, anything.
If your employees go on an extended medical leave and want to keep their benefits warm and cozy, THIS is the form they sign.
It’s cleaner, clearer, and actually makes sense. (A first in HR forms!)

???? New Employee Safety Policy — Now With Work-From-Home Safety Rules

Yes, safety still matters even when Karen from Accounting is working in slippers and her cat is technically her supervisor.

Your brand-new Safety Policy now includes:

  • Work-from-home setup requirements
  • Availability expectations
  • “No, you cannot work from your kayak” clarifications
  • The usual “please don’t injure yourself” reminders

Your employees’ homes are now officially mini-workplaces, minus the bad coffee.

???? NEW British Columbia Sick Leave Policy — Featuring Bill 11

As of November 2025, BC rolled out new rules that basically say:
Stop sending employees to the doctor for every sniffle.

Here’s the Rascal short version:

  • No doctor’s note for the first two health-related absences (up to 5 days each).
  • For the third short absence or anything longer than 5 days, you can ask for “reasonably sufficient proof” — which doesn’t always mean a doctor’s note.
  • The goal? Free up healthcare workers and stop your team from sitting in walk-ins for a certificate that says: “Yep, they’re sick.”

Your new Sick Leave Policy for BC is live, legal, and ready to deploy.
